요즘 온 세계가 신종 코로나 바이러스로 몸살을 앓고 있습니다. 한국에서 라스베가스로 가는 비행기에 중국을 다녀온 승객 3명이 타고 있다는 정보가 입수되자, 이 비행기는 곧바로 LAX로 회항해 검역을 마친 후 라스베가스로 갔다는 신문기사를 읽었습니다. 한국의 모 교회는 6번째 확진 환자가 예배를 드리고 교회 식당에서 밥까지 먹고 갔다는 소식이 알려지면서, 지난 주일은 영상 예배로 대신했다는 기사도 있었습니다. 지난주, 우리 교회 부흥회 강사로 오셨던 이 목사님이 섬기시는 한국의 교회도 지난 주일 예배 출석 인원이 반으로 줄었다고 알려올 정도라 하니, 코로나 바이러스가 정말 무섭다는 생각을 해봅니다. 미국은 코로나 바이러스보다 독감으로 더 심각한 상태지만, 치료 백신도 없는 코로나 바이러스가 확산되는 것을 막기 위해 적극적으로 나서고 있습 니다. 한국이나 미국에서는 신종 바이러스로 인한 사망자가 한 사람도 없는 상황이지만 제2차 제3차 감염자들 즉, 1차로 감염된 사람이 다른 사람에게 감염시켜 확진환자가 늘면서 바이러스를 가지고 돌아다니는 사람들의 동선 파악에 혈안이 되어 있습니다. 9,000세대가 넘는 아파트 촌에 한 확진자가 발생된 즉시 동네 초등학교 세 곳이 휴교를 하는 등 사람이 모이는 상가, 스포츠 센터 등은 유령 마을을 방불케 할 정도로 인적이 드물어졌습니다. 한 사람이 바이러스 보균자로 확인되는 순간 온 도시가 난리가 나는 현상을 보면서 이런 상상을 해 보았습니다.
보고입니다. 오렌지 카운티 얼바인에서 신종 ‘예수 해피 바이러스’가 발견되었습니다. 대학가 하버드에 위치한 베델교회에서 최초로 발생했다고 추측되는 이 바이러스에 감염 되면, 그 순간 먹구름 같던 얼굴이 환하게 변합니다. 우울증이 사라지고 삶의 의욕이 생깁니다. 이기심이 사라지고 서로를 돌보는 마음이 샘 솟습니다. 불의한 욕심과 다툼이 없어지고, 이들이 일하는 곳마다 웃음 꽃이 만발합니다. 이 바이러스에 감염되는 즉시 스트레스가 줄어들고 난폭 운전이 없어지며 지난 한 달 동안 도난 및 강도 등 어떠한 범죄도 신고된 일이 없을 정도로 도시 전체가 바뀌었습니다. 예수 바이러스의 부작용으로는 경찰과 변호사들이 할 일이 없어 폐업을 하게 된 것과 약국에서 더 이상 우울증 약이 팔리지 않는다는 것 입니다.
예수 바이러스로 1차뿐 아니라 제2차, 제3차 감염자들이 더 많이 일어나면 좋겠습니다. 오늘, 우리의 이 예수 바이러스를 전염시킬 VIP들을 기도로 품으며 예수님 때문에 살 맛나는 세상에서 한 번은 살아봤으면… 하는 꿈 넘어 꿈을 꿔봅니다.
New Jesus Virus

Currently, the whole world is struggling with Coronavirus. I read a newspaper article that a flight coming from Korea to Las Vegas was rerouted to LAX for quarantine when it reported that 3 of the passengers visited China, and then routed back to Las Vegas. I also read another news of a patient with Coronavirus, 6th confirmed case in Korea. The patient had visited a church and had lunch in their cafeteria; the church decided to have a video service the following week. Our revival speaker from last week also heard that his church’s attendance last week was half their normal attendance. I realize how scary Coronavirus is. Flu is a much greater threat in the US, but we are actively taking steps to prevent Coronavirus from spreading, which currently have no treatment vaccine. There hasn’t been any death in US or in Korea from this new virus, but with increased number of people with infection and those with secondary and tertiary contacts with the infected, we are frantically keeping track of those who may have become infected. One confirmed case in an apartment complex of 9000 families has shut down a neighborhood elementary school, markets, and sport centers. With less people on the streets, it almost seemed like a ghost town. As I watch an entire city going into chaos from the moment an infection of virus is confirmed, I imagine the following:
This news is reported by . A new ‘Jesus Virus’ has been discovered in Irvine. It began at Bethel Church on Harvard and University Avenue. The moment you are infected with this new virus, your cloudy countenance will become brighter. You are no longer depressed and strive to live. Your selfishness disappears and your heart yearns to care for others. Unjust greed and fight disappear. Laughter is in full bloom in work places. Volunteers never seize and society’s weak are treated well. Wherever this virus is spread, the city changes to less stress, no more reckless driving, and theft and murder are not reported in over a month. If there is a side effect to the Jesus Virus, police and lawyers are out of jobs, and drug stores are not able to sell anti-depressants.
The more Jesus Virus spreads the better, not only for the initially infected but also to secondary and tertiary infections. I dream beyond dreams… that our VIPs, whom we are praying for and will infect with Jesus Virus, to live in this world with passion because of Jesus.
