우리 아이들이 좋아하는 영화 중에 니모를 찾아서(finding NEMO) 라는 영화가 있습니다. 수백 개의 알을 낳는 흰동가리(광대어) 물고기 부부인 말린과 코랄은 곧 부화하게 될 자신들의 알들을 바라보며 행복해하고 있었습니다. 그러던 어느 날 천적인 바라쿠다를 만나게 되어 아내인 코랄과 알들을 모두 잃어버리게 되고, 한쪽 지느러미에 장애를 가지고 태어난 아들 니모와 함께 살게 됩니다. 그러다 보니 말린은 니모가 걱정되어 집 밖으로 나가지 못하게 합니다. 하지만 니모는 자신을 과소평가하는 아빠에게 보란 듯이 멀리 보이는 배를 터치하고 오는 모습을 보여 주려다가 잠수부에게 잡혀갑니다. 그때부터 아버지 말린은 상어들과 해파리 떼로부터 받는 위협에서도 포기하지 않고 끝까지 헤매며 니모를 찾게 됩니다.

저는 아버지 말린의 마음을 경험한 적이 있습니다. 저희 가정에 둘째 세하는 아픈 손입니다. 그래서 함께 가족끼리 다닐 때도 가끔 자신의 관심사를 따라가느라 저희를 놀라게 합니다. 하루는 IKEA에 물건을 사러 갔다가, 아내가 떨리는 목소리로 이야기합니다. ‘여보 세하 못 봤어요? 세하가 안 보여요 조금 전까지 내 옆에 있었는데…’ 저는 세하가 가끔 그러니까 관심 있는 곳에 가서 있겠지 라고 생각하는데 아내는 놀란 눈에 걱정이 가득 담겨있었습니다. 상점을 한 바퀴 두 바퀴 돌며 찾는데 안 보이는 겁니다. 점점 제 온몸의 세포들이 삐쭉삐쭉 서는 것이 느껴지면서 저도 모르게 상점에서 큰소리를 쳤습니다. ‘세하야~ 세하야~’ 결국은 물건과 물건 사이에 누워 있었던 세하를 찾았습니다. 너무 놀라 찾고 난 후 화가 나기도 했지만, 다시 찾은 기쁨은 이루 말할 수 없었습니다.

이것이 우리를 향한 하나님 아버지의 마음이라는 생각이 듭니다. 예수님은 잃어버린 우리를 찾기 위해 이 땅에 오셔서 십자가에 죽으시고 부활하심으로 우리를 구원해 주셨고 그것을 정말 기뻐하셨습니다. “집에 와서 그 벗과 이웃을 불러 모으고 말하되 나와 함께 즐기자 나의 잃은 양을 찾아내었노라 하리라”(눅15:6) 이것이 하나님의 기쁨이라면 오늘 모든 베델 성도님이 새생명 축제의 1차 VIP 작정하기를 바라시며 간절히 소리치고 계실 거라는 생각이 듭니다.

Finding One Soul…

One of my children’s favorite movies is (Finding NEMO). A clown fish couple, Marlin and Coral, were happy looking at their hundreds of eggs that were about to hatch. But one day, they meet their nemesis barracuda. Marlin loses all the eggs and Coral, but he discovers one damaged egg. Marlin lives with his son Nemo who was born with a damaged fin. He was so worried for Nemo that he would not allow him to go outside their home and did not want to send him to school. Out of anger, Nemo wanted to show his father, who underestimated him, that he could go and touch a far-off boat, but ended up getting captured by a scuba diver. Marlin begins searching for his only son Nemo despite dangers from sharks and school of jellyfish. He does not give up until Nemo is found.

I have experienced the father’s heart like Marlin. My second son is a sore thumb in my family. When we travel as a family, time to time he alarms us by disappearing, going after his own interest. One day we went to IKEA. My wife, with fear in her voice, asked, ‘honey did you see Saeha? He was next to me a minute ago but now I don’t see him…’ I am generally a very calm person. This kind of thing has happened before. So, I assumed he has gone off to what interest ed him. On the other hand, my wife gets alarmed every time with fear in her eyes. We searched the entire store but did not find him. I began to feel each cell in my body tense up and unknowingly be gan shouting his name. ‘Saeha~ Saeha~..’ We finally found him lying between some merchandizes. I must have been really scared that, when we found him, I became angry. But the joy of finding him was indescribable.

I think this is the heart of our Father God for us. Jesus came to find us, who were lost in this world, and He died on the cross and gave us salvation through His resurrection. He truly rejoiced in that. “and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep’.”(Lu 15:6) If this brings God joy, then I believe He is desperately shouting for us to make the first-round plege for VIP today
