A Beautiful Harmony Created by Love

-Welcoming the Alumni of Daekwang High School
Rev. Bryan Kim

Today is a day to look back on the journey of the Bethel Somang Orchestra over the past year and offer a special performance to God. Our children with disabilities have held onto their instruments, learning note by note. Behind them stand parents who believed in their potential and waited patiently, teachers who guided them with love, and non-disabled peers who willingly stood shoulder to shoulder to build this harmony together. The music we hear today is not just a performance; it is a miraculous harmony created by love that never gives up.

A bazaar is also being held to continue supporting this precious ministry. I extend my deepest gratitude to those who donated fresh organic products from Korea, the Somang Department teachers who willingly rolled up their sleeves to serve, and the guests who came from all around to take part in this meaningful event. Love is far more beautiful when it moves as hands and feet than when it is merely kept in our hearts.

Coincidentally, alumni from Korea’s prestigious Christian school, Daekwang High School, visited Bethel Church today while traveling in the U.S. We are truly delighted and grateful to have you. Daekwang’s tradition of cultivating character and spirit of service grounded in the Christian faith meets Bethel’s love today, making this occasion all the more meaningful. I understand that there are quite a few alumni from Daekwang at our church, including the late Pastor Peter(In-Sik) Son.

Deeply realizing the importance of education that raises up the next generation through a Christian worldview, Bethel Church established Bethel Classical Academy(BCA), a private Christian school, six years ago. We are now taking our first steps to learn from the long journey of faith-based education that Daekwang has walked over the years. We warmly welcome the visiting alumni today in the name of Bethel Church and BCA. I look forward to the day when our BCA students might embark on a field trip to Korea and visit the campus of Daekwang High School. Please be sure to welcome us warmly when that day comes!

The Apostle Paul tells us, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts…” (1 Corinthians 12:12). In the church, which is the body of Christ, there are no useless parts, nor any that can be dispensed with. Though our individual voices differ, the conductor who unites us as one is Jesus Christ. It is my hope that today, our small acts of love and service will come together to form the most beautiful worship and praise offered up to God.
