저는 “하나님이 다 하셨습니다.” 라는 말이 때론 불편합니다. “Thank you”라는 말에 기계적으로 “You’re welcome”이라고 말하듯, “수고했어요”라는 말에 “하나님이 다 하셨습니다.”라고 반사적으로 답하는 것을 들을 때, 담백하게 “감사합니다.” 정도로 대답하면 좋겠다고 생각합니다. 하지만 이번 예삶의 몽골과 필라델피아 선교는 시작부터 “하나님이 다 하셨습니다.”라는 고백을 할 수밖에 없었습니다.

예삶은 나이별로 청1, 2, 3으로 구분됩니다. 몽골은 비행기 티켓 가격 등의 이유로 어린 청1들은 함께 가기가 어렵습니다. 그래서 작년에는 청3의 청년들만 갔습니다. 그래서 올해는 청1도 같이 가면 좋겠다고 소망했는데 하나님은 이번 몽골 선교에 청1-3의 모든 지체들이 함께 참여할 수 있게 해주셨습니다.

필라델피아에선 어려운 지역에 사는 아이들에게 한 달 동안 캠프를 진행하는 이태후 목사님을 도와주는 사역을 합니다. 작년에는 다른 교회와 연합 사역을 했는데 올해는 예삶이 단독으로 섬기게 되었습니다. 그래서 이 목사님은 작년보다 많은 인원인 15명이 왔으면 좋겠다고 하셨습니다. 알겠다고 대답은 드렸지만, 속으론 자신이 없었습니다. 그리고 오랜 기간 동안 딱 한 명의 지원자만 있었습니다. 그러나 결국 하나님의 은혜로 15명의 선교팀원이 파송 받아 사역을 하게 되었습니다.

이 외에도 하나님이 하신 일들을 다 말할 수 없습니다. 두 번의 펀드레이징 가운데 베델의 성도님들과 예삶의 청년들을 통해 보여주신 하나님의 사랑과 그 풍성한 열매들을 “하나님이 다 하셨습니다” 외에 어떤 말로 표현할 수 있을까요? 장인 목사님께서 개척을 시작하실 때 ‘배부름’으로 시작하셨다고 말한 것이 기억납니다. 개척하면 하나님과의 관계를 ‘배고픔’으로 맺게 되기가 쉬운데 (이것이 부족합니다. 하나님, 채워주시옵소서 하는 식으로) 이미 예수님께서 나를 위한 모든 것을 다 행하셨음을 기억한다면 이미 충만한 배부름으로 개척을 할 수 있다는 것이었습니다. 정말 “예수님 한 분이면 충분합니다”

내가 원한 결과가 나오지 않더라도 감사할 수 있는 이유는 이미 하나님이 부어주신 그 사랑, 예수 그리스도로 충분하기 때문입니다. 이미 주신 그 사랑으로 인해 배부르다고 고백하는 것이 바로 그것이 그리스도인의 삶입니다.

Life of Faith Starts When You Become Full and Satisfied

Sometimes, I am uncomfortable hearing the phrase “God has done it all”. We automatically reply “You’re welcome” to “Thank you.” When someone says “Good job,” we reply, almost like a reflex, “God has done it all”. I wonder if we should just simply reply “Thank you.” However, I can only confess that Yesalm’s Mongolia and Philadelphia short term mission trips were truly “God has done it all.”

Our Yesalm community is divided by age into large groups, Young Adult Groups 1, 2, and 3. Mongolia mission trip is difficult for the younger adult Group 1 to attend because of cost of airfare. Last year Mongolia mission was attended only by the oldest Group 3. We were hoping that the Young Adult Group 1 could attend this year. Amazingly God allowed people from all three groups to attend Mongolia mission this year.

Philadelphia mission was to help Pastor Taehoo Lee with running a month-long summer camp in a difficult area. Last year, we served this ministry along with other churches. This year our Yesalm was the only group serving. Because of that, Pastor Lee requested for more members, about 15, to come. Although I promised, I wasn’t confident. For a long time, only one member signed up. But by God’s grace, we sent off 15 members with prayer to begin the mission work.

Aside from this, there are too many things to mention on what God has done. With two fundraisers, through Bethel congregation and Yesalm young adults, we were able to realize God’s love and abundant fruits. Truly, “God has done it all.” How else can I possibly explain this? I remember my father-in-law, a pastor, told me once that he began planting a church, when he was ‘full and satisfied’. During church planting, relationship with God easily deals more with ‘hunger to fill what is lacking’ (such as I need this; I want this; God, please provide). If we remembered what Jesus has already done for us, we already have enough. With being satisfied and full, he could plant a church. Truly, “Jesus alone is enough.”

Even when the result is not what I wanted, I still have a reason to be thankful. The love that has been poured on me by Jesus is enough. Confessing that we are satisfied and full because of the love that has already been given to us is the Christian life.
